Fuel Pump problems - help
Any one else had fuel pump issues - this is my 2nd pump in less than 2 years to go bad.
Any suggestions on why? Any Ideas?
Can you put an electric pump on the frame rail and bypass the system?
Pull the bed or drop the tank? decisions, decisions, decisions.... and they wonder why I am going bald....

What kind of pump did you buy last time? The el-cheapo deluxe version? with the 12 second, or 12 foot warranty?
Get a QUALITY replacement unit, drop the tank, clean it out REALLY well, install aforementioned quality unit, replace tank. Smile.

None of the ones I see give you more than a 12 month warranty... any ideas on 10 yrs or 100,000 miles.... need another 250k for the 500K mark...
Did all of the above and still got shafted...
I noticed here lately that instead of getting a helpful answer, you get a smart *$$ reply. Most of the ones here are not stupid as you may think. If you can't be nice and helpful.... don't waste my time....

Advance Auto has this Bosch unit with a limited lifetime warranty.

Wasn't intended as a 'smart assed' reply. It was a question. Far too often I see folks looking solely at the price of their potential replacement part, and buying whatever is cheapest..... and then they get to do the job again at some later date. If you do not fall in to this category, then more power to you.
Personally, I won't even set foot in an auto zone store, as I have had nothing but trouble from parts I buy from them. After having my 'bird abandon me on the side of the road THREE TIMES in two weeks, due to crappy autozone parts...... I stopped going there.
Sure, every place has their problems...... I just have significantly less problems when I go anywhere else......
Erm, just noticed the edit.....

I agree on the parts stores, they seem to sell whatever will bring the highest profit, which is usually a cheap part selling at a premium price.
What ever happened to the fuel pumps that you use to mount on the frame rail, if one of those went out, it could be changed out fast and the pumps seemed to last forever?
I had one on my '71 Cheyenne and it lasted for years....
