Default Dist cap & wires - I messed something up

I was changing my plugs & wires today & checked the dist cap & rotor. The cap and rotor were corroded so I replaced them also.

I transferred each wire from old cap to new cap in what I thought was the same position but I apparently screwed something up.

The truck won't start.

I have a Haynes manual and see the diagram of the cylinder #s and firing order. If #1 on the cap is supposed to wire to #1 cylinder (and so on) then my wires definitely are wrong. Is that how it's supposed to connect?

Thanks for the help in advance!

don't feel bad, once years ago I was changing the wires on an old 4 cylinder beretta, the coil packs were on the backside of the motor so I had to do it by feel, and I had those FOUR messed up just as bad haha

^mine was completly different than that....and i had each one off by one, and mine was still running....but rough....so i dont think routing them wrong will make it not start, id check everyone of them and make sure they are "snapped" down.

When you only have 1 in the right place on the cap, it won't run.

I followed the diagram in the Haynes manual, which is the same on that dodgeram07 posted. Runs like a champ.

I felt like such a dumba$$ for about 2 hours this afternoon.

Thanks to everyone for their help... again.

Just a side note, on the distributor cap. There is a number 1 marked on the cap, then start to work putting the wires on clockwise. I did this and got it right the first time. I'm not braging (sp), just a note.
