Engine warm up question

Idle in neutral for about 5 or so minutes.Been doing it like that for years.

I pull it in neutral right after I start it and wait about 15 seconds when it's warm weather.
I pull it in neutral right after I start it and wait about 1 minute when it's cold weather.

Warm weather - A minute or so of warm up.
Cold Weather - Allow the temperature needle to start moving, usually don't start driving unless the needle has moved half-way or more.

i actually saw on spike tv once they were talkin bout how to maximize your mpg, and said dont let the engine warm up just get in, get ur pressure and go, dont sit and let it warm up for 5 mins. but its a personal thing i think. eveyone does it different

Once the oil and coolant is pumping then you're good to go. The higher rpm's from driving will get the engine hot faster.
