I've always been horribly dissapointed in the way my truck tows. There is no chance it will tow with OD on, so that rules out any highway driving. I don't wanna be pulling 3200rpm just so I can keep up with traffic, it's not worth it. Not that I would ever pull with OD on anyway, that's a surefire way to burn up the tranny. If I ever need to tow something over 1500# more than 100 miles, I'll use my parents Nissan Titan or my GMC Siarra.

If I knew this truck would be so worthless when it came towing I never would have bought it. But now I'm stuck with it, so I'll make due with what I got.

Ooops..... Got confused with who was towing what.

I put 3000 lbs of dirt in the bed of my truck, and yeah, acceleration suffered some, but, it hauled it without a problem, and actually rode better with a load.... (those 3/4 ton springs are STIFF.) I also have the 3.55 gears, and am running 265's. Braking performance barely changed, just a bit more pressure on the pedal, and the truck stopped..... (of course, fixing the brakes was the FIRST thing I did when I bought the truck.) Your truck really should tow without a problem.

I was turning around 2100 RPM at 60 MPH with overdrive disabled.

I'm going to 265's cause I like the look of the truck better than with the 285's. I actually have a spare set of stock wheels with 265/75/16 tires on them. the tires are no good, but for $100 for the set on Craigslist, it was worth it for the wheels alone. I also got them to do a test run with the smaller tires, to see how they are with my low gears, and the truck is a lot better moving from a stand still, and *******ly no difference on the highway.
