Default Have a few problems and questions...?

I have a 1996 ram 2500 with a 5.2L.

My oil pressure gauge goes up when I hit the gas and when I stop at a light it goes down?

Getting my transmission rebuilt right now and I had them put an auto trans shift kit in it. Are there any other problems I could run into after haven a shift kit put in?

After it gets out of the transmission shop I'm going to do ball Joints, Tie Rod End, Sway Bar Bushing, and Shocks.

next question. When I put new shocks on, I would like to lift the front a little. Can I put a 2" lifted shock on can lift it a little? Or do I need to get a lift kit?

Is there any thing else I should know? Thanks guys!

Yes is it normal for the oil pressure to bounce around as you described. Should be at 35-40 on the low side and 50-55 on the high side. No prob there...

I can't tell you much about the tranny, not my area of expertise...I'm sure someone will chime in this one...or you can PM (personal message) MonteC I believe he is the tranny expert around these parts of the woods

I believe Rancho makes a shock that will give you a 2 inch lift, atleast thats what the guy at Napa told me a few weeks ago when I got new shocks, but don't quote me on that one....not 100% sure.

Also, if the plenum gasket has never changed, you may want to look into that, it is a common problem among the magnum engines to get what is called 'plenum blow-out' You can do a search on this forum to get more info...there are plenty of threads to read on about this topic.

Oh yeah, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

well if I take the intake off i would much rather put a new one on... like an Edelbrock or something but i can't seem to find any after market intakes?

should i just get a bigger throttle body and a cold air intake and call it good?

what are some things that I can do to get some more HP out of this small block?

Throttle body spacers are completely useless on our trucks. The cold air intake will help a little, but not too much if you haven't done any other modifications. Headers are always a good idea, but I hear they can be a P.I.T.A to get on. As far as the throttle body, check out this link:

how much movement you got in the oil pressure guage? is it going close to the top? down to the bottom? or just small fluctuations?

shift kit will help your tranny out

no, shocks alone will not give lift, they will just bottom out

the oil pressure gauge sits on the bottom at a red light and when I'm just goin down the high way about 65 or so and when i get into it it will go about 1/2 way and stay up while I'm in it and drop when I let out.

how can I get 2" out of the front with out spending 500?

and if i go with this intake and rockers I wont need to do any thing else? should I go ahead with a cam? will i need a tune after it? and bigger tb?

You probably ought to hook a mechanical oil pressure gauge to that engine to confirm the probability that your sending unit's bad. It's a common failure that presents the symptoms you've described.

If all you're after is to get the front level with the rear, go for a leveling kit. You can get a 2" leveling kit for under a hundred bucks.
