Default Your A/C best guess....

Ok I live in Fl and need my beloved ac. Mine usually works great all the time except for a hiccup today. was ready to leave noticed the clutch on the ac was not kicking on so...so I called a Buddie of mine he told me to jump the 2 wires going to what I think is the dryer but is also the home to what I think is called the( low pressure switch) I'm trying to find the name of this part. when i jumped the wire going to it the clutches started working fine and when I plugged back in the wire it stayed working . i just don't want this to go out when i'm away from a auto part store . i stopped at auto zone, the guys there didn't know what i was talking about and I didn't have the patience to deal with them today . any help .Thanks Ron 97 5.9 4x4

Best of luck, I chased around an AC clutch issue for 2 years in Bama, and then Florida finally pushed me over the edge to just replace the compressor, ahh sweet cold air.

Mine would work fine until the compressor got hot, so it would blow cold for a few minutes until everything got hot, if you then shot it with something to cool it down it would kick back on. More info on what conditions yours works under will help. I tried jumping the switches, but eventually it was the temp thing that rang true as the indicator the clutch was just failing. Is this an original compressor?

I was assuming you started with this before you even got to jumping the low sensor right?

Ya, charge is fine no leaks . was in the green on my generic tester . worked fine after jump . plugged wire back in and continued to work . just don't know the name of that part to buy it . If it is not outrageous I want to replace it before it goes out totally.

It is indeed the low pressure switch. If it is TOO low, the switch opens, and the A/C doesn't work.
