new guy with a few ?s
First of all my questions are about my 96 ram 1500 Ext cab 4x4. It has a 360 with auto. 3.50 rear with limited slip. 35" +/- tires. Stock height as far as i know. i bought the truck exactly like it is last week
1- The tires are too big and rub when i turn. surprisingly it isnt bad but still needs addressed. The truck came with 3" spring buckets for the front. What else do i need to complete the lift? Do I need to do anything with the steering? Should I use springs or blocks for the back?
2- My air only comes out at the floor. Is it just a vacuum line or should i look for something else?
3- My Oil Pressure guage sometimes drops when i give it throttle and other times goes up, sometimes back and forth. Is this the guage or pump?
Sorry if these are FAQs i couldnt find the answers i needed

Welcome to DF
1. Depends on how high you wanna go. me im going with a 5" lift from rough country, but you can get away with a 3" lift i do believe, if it was me id ude blocks on the back, just faster to add those and get new u-bolts.
2. Your air problem i believe is a valve i just cant remember the name of it, someone else will.
3. And i have never had this problem but i think most people say its gonna be your oil sending unit? should be able to find other posts on it.

When vacuum fails, the vents default to the defroster, you have a different problem. Possibly a bad vacuum motor, or broken switch. Need to crawl around under the dash, and see what is going on.
Oil Pressure problem is most likely the sending unit. Yup.
Where do your tires rub??

The tires rub a little on the platic part of the bumper and at the back of the wheel well where the metal sticks down for the fender to bolt on. They are at about 40% so im sure its worse with new tires. That will be great if I just have to do shocks and rear blocks. I needed shocks anyway and saves me a lot of money since i already have half the lift apparently.
Thanks ill get on that sending unit. Ill see if i can find something loose or disconnected near the heater/ac
All help is greatly appreciated. I work all the time and dont have a lot of time for wild goose chases so anything that points me in the right direction is a major help

Shocks won't give you any lift. You can use a heat gun to warm the plastic where the tire rubs, and 'reform' it, so that it doesn't hit there. You could conceivably loosen up the front bumper, and move it forward a bit, so the tire doesn't hit there. Putting a bit more lift on the front will get things out of the way, until your suspension compresses..... it still may rub there if you offroad at all. Not entirely sure on that one.....
i know shocks wont lift it. i have 3" front sping buckets (or whatever their real name is) so thats why i said i only needed shocks n blocks. Ill try the bumper and see how much i can move it. not a bad idea at all. should help for if i do take it off road.
