Angry Still Burning Oil After Fixing Plenum

Well fixed my plenum gasket with the hughes kit a week or two ago. As in my last thread I was having a problem with my temp gauge, I also mentioned seeing a bit of smoke/gas coming from the manifold. Well today I was driving along and noticed my oil pressure dropped down to zero. Checked the oil and it barely marks the dip stick, so I believe this smoke is burned oil. What would cause this? I think it could be a bad seal with the intake gaskets, but I really don't want to rip everything apart again without anyones opinion.

Start your engine, and take off the oil fill cap. Put your hand over the hole. There should be a LIGHT vacuum there. If it tries to suck you in, you still have a problem somewhere. First thing I would do though is replace the PCV valve, with a quality unit. (some of the off brands have too high of a flow rate, and will actually suck in oil.......)

Did the plenum gasket fail again? Have a look into your intake, and see what you can see.

Next step would be a cylinder leak down test.

Might also be bad valve guides.

Actually I just may. I noticed something dripping but haven't had a chance to check it.

As for the plenum failing I highly doubt it. I replaced it with the hughes kit and everything seemed fine putting that back together. I will check for a vacuum.

It didn't try to suck my hand on it. Does this mean that there isn't a problem with any of the new gaskets that I just replaced?

If there was just a bit of vacuum, then your gaskets are probably good, and probably so is the PCV valve...... pull the line off the PCV valve, and have a look, any oil in there? (some is ok, if it is dripping out....... replace the valve.)

My thought is that if you went to no oil pressure in a week or two, it's not all from burn.

You'd have been pulled over long ago, or cussed out by a tree hugger. Front or rear main seal would be my guess, unless you cross threaded the oil pan plug, or have an old oil filter ring stuck to the block.

Just checked, it is leaking oil behind the motor. Guess it just leaked onto the engine and was burning while it was leaking. I will enjoy playing hide and seek tonight when I get off work.
