Default 3rd gen shocks on a 2nd gen

I have a 2000 ram 1500 4x4, i have 2500 3rd gen diesel coils up front which gave me 3.5in lift and i put a AAl in the rear to level it. My shocks are wore out anyways and was wondering if 2500 diesel shocks from a 3rd gen would fit with no problem and work with my setup. Thanks guys.

Don't think they will work. 1500 have dana 44 axles in the front and 9.25 in the rear. The 2500's have dana 60's front and rear.

diesel shocks are going to be valved dramatically different than for your comparitively light gas engine as well. Think the ride is harsh now???

Best bet would be to call one of the suspension manufacturers, tell em what you got, and go by their recommendation.

Those coils will work on a ford toyota or anything thing like that. There coils springs. You can try to fit them in there I don't think they will work the shocks that is.

you can make them work, I have the same thing in my 98 4x4. the upper tab has to be ground down a little to fit in the shock tower properly and the bolt hole at the bottom is smaller.

Just because you can, doesn't mean it is a good idea..... if you have them, you can put them on there I suppose, and see what you think..... Hope your kidneys are in good shape.

Well makes since that they will ride different, but at the same time you get alot of people saying not to use diesel coils because of the ride. But my ride actually improved and I like it. Now that could be because my stock shocks are wore out. So I dont know.

BIGDIP - how do you think your ride is after the shocks?
