Yep. It always boils down to cost as well as statistics of the failure rate. The gamble that is in the long run, the cost of any repairs will be far cheaper than having laid out a lot of money up front for a durable part.

I know guys who could weld the pan to the intake and not even think twice about it leaking. They are some of the best welders in NB, if not the country... We used to make vacuum chambers and stuff like that for NASA and various nuclear plants, so that tells you how critical good welds are for these guys...

WOW durafix looks like its amazing stuff.
JB weld would not be good for this application. Welding would have to be done by an expert who is willing to front the cash to replace the work you give them.

It is how PAdodgeram made his own electric fan shroud setup. he fabbed it from aluminum sheet and durafix.
