Default air bag suspension?

Hey everyone. So some of you might know I have add a leafs in the rear. I don't like them very much when I'm not hauling or pulling anything because it's so darn rough riding (I imagine my 10 ply tires don't help). I'm thinking about taking the add a leafs out and replacing that strength with air bags that way I can adjust the stiffness back there. Is that a good idea or a waste of money? Anybody have air bags in the rear with pictures??

I have a 94 2500 and was thinking the same thing, right now the ride is hard and thought that the airbags would make it ride smoother.

Thumbs up Do it

Originally, I did the air bags on mine to fix the lean and would recommend them for everyone. As a side benefit, it's nice to be able to add air when carrying loads (I hate a truck that squats) and then let it out when done. You don't even know you have them when empty.

Check amazon if you decide to get them, I got a great deal that Summit & Jegs wouldn't / couldn't price match.

No everything is tip top shape all around, well maybe the shocks are due to be changed but other than that nothing wrong under there, knock on wood.

Ah, I note you have a 2500... if you have the 8800 lb gvw, like mine... yeah, the ride when empty is stiff. Putting it mildly. Almost to the point of just not having any suspension at all. One of the compromises for the extra hauling capacity....

If you want to retain you weight rating, not a lot you can do about it... (well, put 500 to 1000 pounds of dirt back there...... but, that has drawbacks all its own...) If you don't care about weight rating, you could disassemble the spring pack, and take one of the intermediate leaves out... but, I really really really don't recommend that.

SO adding airbags would not help the ride at all, or it would but I wouldnt be able to carry as much weight?

You will take out the add a leaf and install the airbags. The air bags allow you to drive like stock with no weight but once you load the truck you fill them up to stiffen the suspension. Airbags will let you tow more with out squatting. But if you want a cadillac ride and still tow then take the leafs completely out and add a full air suspension.
