Default Overhead console problems

Recently, when I get in my truck, the temp says SC (Short Circuit???) and will stay that way for about 2 minutes. Then, after driving, the temp starts at 100 degrees, goes to 130, and then slowly works its way back down. What could this be? It pisses me off every time.

According to the manual.... The temp sensor doesn't give instantaneous readings, it gives "average"...... and can take up to three minutes to get somewhere near accurate. I am not able to find what the SC means..... I think there is another book (diagnosis and testing) that supplements the factory service manual, that I have not been able to come up with.

Well, get this. The other day I got into my truck.. Pulled the parking brake release and took off.. The odometer started flashing, the overhead console read CCD, and then all of my gauges quit working. Then the odometer read NO BUS. It was somthing to do with the parking brake because i wiggled it and the tach started working again..
What could this be?

Gotta be a loose connection somewhere. If you can get it to do it again, try pressing gently in the instrument cluster, and see if it gets its bus back.

Ok, well the ABS light comes on, and Airbag, and CEL, and low gas... Frustrating!

Also, the MPG and the Dest till empty dont work. it says Im getting .5 MPG. When I reset it, it will say like 10.5, and then go back to some crazy amount. like 3.2

Grab the Factory Service Manual from the FAQ section here, there is a bit of troubleshooting steps in there..... Not sure how much help it will be.

sounds like you have a loose ground in the wiring and seeing as how its all messin up, its gotta be at the beginning of the chain. check the main fusesand wires for the instruments. its gotta be a ground. dunno why it would do that with ur parking brake though.
