It does have a MSD ignition so I will ignore that code from now on.

 

Put a O2 sensor on it and its running fine so she has her truck back now,all I have to do to it now is install the bumper,fender and headlight so it wont looks so bad.

did the o2 sensor fix the idle issues?

 

The O2 sensor fixed the idle problems,the downstream sensor has set a code which it originally did when I first hooked the scanner to it the other day and did not come back when I was driving it yesterday so next week I will get one as its still running fine. It looks like when one is replaced the other should be too,this truck has about 200,000 miles on it and both O2 sensors were originals.

 

I always replace both as a set just to avoid the annoyance of a CEL when I'm out in the middle of nowhere hundreds of miles from home.

 

It was doing fine untill it hit a bip bump in the road,I wish there was a way just to bypass the rear O2 sensor with some kind of module as from what I hear it just monitors the convertor.

 

There are 'kits' you can get for them, to fool them into thinking the cats are still there...... basically, I think they just limit flow to the rear O2 sensors. If the cat IS still there, and you are setting codes..... are your cats toast?

 

I wondered about the cat and the code is P0138-downstream O2 shorted high,it came of after hitting a big bump.

 

Ah, that's different then. Follow the harness for the rear O2, and see where it is shorted out. Possible the O2 sensor just didn't like the bump too. If you can't find a problem in the harness, just replace the thing.
