Default transfer case leak

a few months ago i decided to fix my broken speedometer which led me to replacing the drive gear and pinion in the extension house of the t-case. i sealed the extension housing up with ultra black rtv and managed to snap off 1 of the bolts while tightening it back up. i left it with 4 bolts and it didnt start leaking for like 2 mos. so then i took the extension case off got the broken bolt out and replced all the bolts and sealed it up with ultra black. well now its leaking again so i was thinking of taking it off and sealing it with permatex's new auto tranny rtv. the fill plug also leaks. any thoughts? its not a substantial amount but i dont want it leakn

I am not a fan of leaks either.

Yeah, pull it back apart, make sure everything is clean and tidy, and there are not marf marks in the mating surfaces, and try the auto tranny stuff. Let us know how it works. You can be the first to write a review.

deep scratches or gouges that would screw up the seal.

See if you can smooth them out, or, worst case, fill 'em with something.

Smooth them out the best you can and try loctite 518 or permatex anaerobic gasket maker.

Loctite 518 anaerobic gasket maker + Permatex anaerobic gasket maker = same stuff.
The Loctite isn't stocked at the parts stores as often as Permatex.
