Rear tire wearing outside edge

1995 2500 4x4 with 220,000 miles. Truck was used towing and a work truck for a fence company. I bought this truck cheap and it needs work. I noticed the rear tire on passenger side worn on edge. I loaned the truck to my dad and he put about 600 miles on it. I put it in the garage and noticed the edge was wearing and from a distance I could see the edge was clean rubber like it is draging. When I bought the truck all the tires had less than 50 pounds in them. Door jamb calls for 80 in rear. I aired all tires to proper pressure and it stiffened the ride a lot. In fact so much that the first RR crossing I went over it got the "Death Wobble"
So I aired the tires down to 55 in the rear to soften the ride. Could the wear be from worn wheel bearings or just low air pressure. It has stock size tires. Not sure how hard this truck was used but it does have a flat bed on it.

I hope it is just air pressure. I will put 80 pounds in and see what happens. I got to go pick up two pallets of sod in the morning. I have had at least 1,000 pounds on before but sod is between 2,500-3,000 each pallet. Ought to be intersting. Is there a way to put a tape measure between tires to determin if axle housing is bent?

Not true. I have a tire that is worn only on the outside edge and it's because it was used with only 20 psi in it (should have 44 IIRC) for quite some time. I fixed the leaking plug and got it to hold pressure, it no longer wears the outside edge.
