Default What would you do???

so say you just happened to fall asleep going into a construction zone one time and you plowed over one of those huge orange cones before hittin the wall, and thats the only reason you didnt hit the wall.but luckily ur truck sits high enough it busted out ur blinker and lefted a softball size dent behind the blinker on the side of ur truck, and knocked the paint off. but thats all that was done. so now time has past and you wanna fix it, what do you do? its rusted over a little bit since its happened. so would you, just sand the rust off where u could without messin up the paint around it, and then try the old plunger trick? and then if that dont work get a rubber mallet on the backside? then with a little tap tap taparoo you got it to pop out! now finish sandin the rust off, and do you primer it now or just go get some matching spray paint in a can and cover it?

Depends. If I had the money I'd get it done. If I was broke I'd do it myself. I would sand/grind down the rust. I'd rent some auto body tools from auto-zone. after that a lil bondo, primer and some matching spray paint.

If I couldn't bump or massage it out, I'd bite the bullet and use a slide hammer. Afterward I'd smooth it up with a spoon (auto body spoon, that is) if needed, close any slide hammer holes with a wire-feed welder if I could or body filler only if I absolutely had to. Then etch, primer, and paint both sides.

But I'm a freak about body filler. I hate that crap for anything more than very light surface smoothing and don't use it at all for filling holes. It'll take on moisture with the least of excuses and rust your pricey body panels from the inside out.

I'd beat on it till the new blinker fit and leave the rest. But I really don't care what it looks like as long as it runs.

You can find that blinker on Ebay for 10$ with 5-10$ shipping all day long, so don't get it from the parts store.

i already have a new blinker have for long time. but the dent is actually a inch or so from the edge of the blinker, so its not right on the blinker, so i should be able to make it look like new no problem. ill take pics.

i've got no body or paint skills, so i'd just mask it off, sand off the rust, work on the dent the best i could, maybe pay one of those dent remover guys if i couldn't get it close, then paint it with a spray can. you can buy spray paint in your color on ebay for $15-20.
