Question Doing work over the weekend

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 318ci 2WD. This week I plan on changing the oil and I also plan on changing the transmission fluid. Any other things I should do or inspect while I'm doing this? Any suggestions would be nice. I don't want to spend to much money but just want to get the truck running in the best shape it can be in for another two years or so. It has 167,000 miles and tranny rebuilt at 115,000.

I would also like to know what type of transmission fluid should I use for this?

use ATF 4, and only ATF4 anything else will eat up your tranny. but really brand wise is personal preference.

check air filter, plugs, wires etc. check the diff fluid recently? good luck

Yes I of course will be changing the filters as well I recently changed out the air filter to a K&N Filter. Thanks for the heads up on ATF4.

What I meant by that is that I am not trying to go crazy and drop grands into the truck like some people do on here. Nothing wrong with that at all. I have a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR which is where most of my money goes into. Me and my fiancee needed another vehicle and I work at a warehouse and have to do alot of hauling for businessses so we found this truck for $2400. Its not a fantastic truck but I just want to make it as reliable as possible. I know the dodge's especially this model did have many problems but many of them don't seem to be too bad or too expensive if you can do the work yourself. Basically I am just trying to avoid the truck breaking down on me on the side of the highway. I'm trying to get it to last me about a year to year and a half until I'm out of school

Well I looked in the manual and it says to use the Mopar ATF+4 type 9602 or something like that. Napa and Autozone and everything like that is closed right now. I was at Walmart and got SuperTech ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid which seems to be the Wally World brand of the Mopar ATF+4. Will this work fine?
