hood keeps flying up

Default hood keeps flying up

my 01 dodge ram sport does not have a secondary hood latch, and has flown up twice on me, i dont even see a place for the secondary latch to be, did these really come without one, or am i over looking it, i hate to buy a new hood and have it come up as well

it should be pretty apperent. the release is (on the non sport) dead center on the bottom of the grill. and i guess follow it

bubbas got it, thats right where it is.

dot mandates that all vehicles sold have to have that highway latch for safety purposes. if it has been removed, got to your local junk yard. it connects to the same loop as the primary latch.

Go to your dealer and ask about the secondary hood latch recall. They'll put a new one on for free.

Hood pins will work...Hmmm. Hood Pins.

yep, I was gonna mention the recall on the secondary latch also... I was scheduled to get mine changed for free a couple months ago but I forgot about the appt and haven't gone back. I guess if my hood was flyin up all the time I would be a little quicker about gettin it done

I had an 85 Camaro that had the hood come up on it a couple times while driving, not fun when it happens at ~80.... Not to mention that it ruined the hood and both fender when it happened...
