Bad Brakes
There was some discussion of that... and it was put forth that, no, it won't work.
Part numbers are all over the place on those, there are even two different M/C's for the 2500, depending on GVWR.....

Did you do the 1 ton wheel cylinders too? I have bled, and bled, and bled. Not sure what you mean about "pressure bleed". Where did you get the .c from and do you happen to know the part #?
I have nearly the same truck, but a 1999. My brakes actually make me nervous, and can scare me.
I just replaced the front calipers, rotors and pads. I did all of this because my front calipers got sticky and ground the pads down and then ground into the rotors. At the time my braking was terrible. After replacing everything I mentioned, the brakes still suck. (I bought the truck used about 6 months ago)
If I am doing 35 mph and immediately smash the brake pedal to the floor hard and quick I am not thrown forward, there is no instant tug, the nose of the truck does not dip down. The truck just slows down. It acts like the brakes are hot. (or acts like the pads are made of pine) Do this maveuver three or four times and the brakes do get stinky hot. What gives?
The brake booster flexes when the brake is applied. Is this normal? My neighbor and I have bled the brakes over and over and there is no improvement. He recommended I get the system pressure bled. He also told me to get a new master cylinder if the pressure bleeding doesn't help. I can't find any leaks, the brake hoses seem fine and don't bulge. Every thing seems fine, the brakes just are soft and weak. Oh, pushing the pedal down to the floor doesn't improve braking much at all. Yes, I can push the pedal to the floor, or nearly so. I don't have a lot of spare cash. What would you recommend? Hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I think I have the exact same problem with the same truck.
