Default 2000 Tune Up Recommendation

Well i finally finished all my housework and now have an empty garage to work on the ram, im going to be doing a tune up and decided in the champion plugs, but im undecided on the wires and were looking for a recommendation. I currently have some wires from auto zone on there but i have seen more pricier wire/plugs/rotor cap. What is the best value out there and where can i get it?

If your truck is basically stock, I don't think you get any benefit from a pricier set of wires, I was shocked at how cheesy the cap and rotor looked from Autozone, but the paperwork I found in the truck says the ones (from Autone) I replaced had about 40K on it and they weren't too bad and just as cheesy, probably could have ran another 20K. I replaced all my stuff because I had the Manifold out for the plenum problem.

I did plugs/wires/cap/rotor a few weeks ago for about 60 bucks. Got everything from Oreilly's.

Unless you have your wires routed per the dodge ram wiring tsb, ( use the search) or even if you do have them routed the correct way. A thicker set of wires IE. 8mm, 8.5mm. Will help prevent crosstalk and misfires.

Summit is pretty good too btw +1

Champion or NGK for plugs.
I love my NAPA brass cap and rotor and spark plug wires. Cheap and durable.

How'd you manage to get free shipping? Did they make it up by charging you a handling fee?

I highly recommend the MSD 8mm street fire wires. They usually cost around $40 and is a better quality than OEM 7mm.

I use NGK, and save up all your shopping til xmas time or just after and they do free shipping. Also, sometimes they do free shipping over 100 bucks too. This year I will be getting shorty headers, a new y pipe and some 180 mandrel bends to cut up and use out back. I have been patching holes in my exhaust system (minus the manifolds and the flowmaster) for two years, tired of finding a new hole every couple weeks. Probably spring for a cam this year too, I already have Harland Sharp roller rockers...4 years now and let me tell you, just as good as the first day.

Go with NGKs, can't go wrong with them. Champions are hit and miss these days IMHO quality control has gone downhill with them. I found one with a broken insulator right out of the box and another with the tip missing entirely, as in not even welded on. That was my last set of Champions for a while.
