Default Cold idle Problem

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 1996 ram 1500 318cid 4x4 last week with 230,000km so I don't have much history on it. Here is what I do know: the plugs, cap and rotor are new and it has a cold air intake... The problem: When starting it cold, the idle will rise to 1000rpm and then after 5sec drops to 800rpm and will stay there & run rough until it gets up to temp. I tried driving it before it's up to temp and it stumbles and sometimes back fires. After it's warmed up there is no issue. The truck runs and drives perfect. Any suggestions would be great.

Check your fuel pressure. You should have the steel fuel rails, with the test port on it. Some of the auto parts stores will rent/loan tools, check out the ones in your area.

Sounds like your auto choke is going off, also it sounds like its running lean.
