Transmission Shot, Questions for trans shop
My trans died, I had a trailer with two motorcycles on the back. I went up a small steep incline after sitting in traffic. My trucks RPM was high but the truck barely moved. I had it towed, after driving the motorcycles home, to a Trans shop that did my wifes Explorer 3 years ago. Had no regrets so I went back to have him work on my Ram but he had sold the business however the same people are there. Just new owner with same warranty 12mo or 12,000 miles which ever comes first. So should I ask some questions like what type of parts or whats replaced in the transmission that will be installed in my truck.
Thanks Obie

i would look into a reman trans. unless you want them to tear it apart and find out whats wrong with it.
with my old ram 46rh the over running clutch took a crap and dug into the casing of the trans needing a new casing.

See if they do any "upgrades". Extra clutches, etc.
Ask them if they would install the Sonax Sure Cure kit, if you provided it. (MonteC, our resident trans expert recommends this.)
Ask them what type of torque converter they install. The factory T/C's were rather weak..... going with a slightly higher stall may not hurt your feelings either. (especially since you do some towing.)

If you have the time and a place to do it, take this as your opportunity to do it yourself and learn. It's honestly not as hard as it seams if your somewhat mechanically inclined.
