I would put a fuel pressure gauge on, and try to duplicate the problem while monitoring the gauge while driving or by bumping on things like the bottom of the fuel tank or fuel related electrical connections.

Loose connection? May be the battery?

took the truck to work today and it got worse. now its like studdering when i take off. honestly to me its like the same thing it would if it was running out of gas. now that brings me back to the fuel pump. does the pump work all the time or just to build pressure for the start? somrthing i nevet thought about any input would help. thanks

do a full tune up. plugs, dist. cap etc to see if gets better. and check the battery cables front to back and check for a bad connection. that will help you check fot the loss of power.

The fuel pump will prime when you first turn the key to 'on', and then, when the PCM decides the engine is actually turning, it will power it constantly. When the engine is running, so is the fuel pump. If you have inadequate fuel pressure, it will indeed act like it is running out of gas.
