truck loses power when i go over bump. i need help!
hey guys i'm new to this but i'm on my last leg, that being said i have a 2000 ram with a 5.9. the problem i'm having is when ever i go over a bump just driving down the road the truck just loses power like it cuts out and then comes back instantly. no lights dim, i have no check engine lights on. i think its a fuel problem but im not sure. just looking for your in put if anyone heard of this or delt with it. thanks for the help
I would put a fuel pressure gauge on, and try to duplicate the problem while monitoring the gauge while driving or by bumping on things like the bottom of the fuel tank or fuel related electrical connections.
thanks i dont have a fuel pressure guage but im sure i can find one. iv checked my plugs and they look worn but nothing out of the ordenary. do you think possibly the fuel filter? i was thinking not only for the reason that i would think it would have a hard time starting, but she fires right up hot or cold.electrical looks good but i will get into it more tommorrow
took the truck to work today and it got worse. now its like studdering when i take off. honestly to me its like the same thing it would if it was running out of gas. now that brings me back to the fuel pump. does the pump work all the time or just to build pressure for the start? somrthing i nevet thought about any input would help. thanks
