Default lockers on 3.55

how much would it cost to put lockers on the stock 3.55 gearing , and would putting lockers on remove the spider gears ?

im sick of flooring it and get the 1 wheel peel. im sure it would spin both if i had lockers and if it wouldnt it would be ok it would just take off like a bat outta hell instead of putting all the power to the 1 wheel its kinda annoying lol .

or, you could get a spool. cut tires more often, but jegs has them on sale right now for our trucks for $81. i've considered this route myself. i can't exactly afford a locker right now.

Spools aren't exactly what I would consider 'streetable' though. Chew up tires, and various other rear end parts........

The Truetrac is in between an lsd and a locker. It is a gear system instead of clutches so you don't need friction modifier and there are no clutches to wear out.
If you get one wheel off the ground then you apply light brake pressure to give the free wheeling tire some resistance and it'll get you moving.
The Truetrac needs some resistance on the tire with less traction to transfer power to the wheel with traction (brakes in the air or the pavement if you're burning out).
While on the pavement you won't even notice that it is there too.
That's why I plan on getting one for each axle.

About 450$ and yes the spider gears along with the entire carrier get replaced which means needing a master install kit to re-install the gears since you're getting a new carrier (the truetrac).
I would assume you could do it yourself if you know your way around a wrench and have access to a few special tools.
If you want quick and easy then you could get a Powertrax lockright. I've seen mixed reviews on the lockright, some love it some hate it.

one up for the locrite/aussie locker.

these work good for what you want. i have a buddy with one in his truck, you can barely notice it on the road unless you want to

the way they are designed to work, they will unlock around corners (like parking lots) but when you stomp it, both tires lock. they take some time to get used to driving with, but once you get the 'feel' for them, they are great.

relatively cheap too, probably 300$ for you american folk. little more for us up here. installs easy: drop the side gears out, put new one in. NO new gear setup. 100% better than a spool, and no 'hoping' it locks up when you want/need it to like a LSD.
