a/c compressor smoking
Well it looks like i need to replace my compressor. i have 3 questions
1. I've read that you should replace the accumulator as well, anything i need to replace?
2. Has anyone ordered a compressor on Ebay, i see one for $109? I just emailed the company and they said teh compressor leaves the manufactouer dry.
3. is there a DIY Write up on this? just want to make sure i'm crossing my t's and dotting my i's.
I've already replaced the evaporator.
thanks
Oscar

Compressor is probably seized, and when you turn on the A/C, the belt can't turn it, so the belt smokes. Should make some rude noises as well.
Shut the truck off, and let everything cool. Open the hood, and try and turn the center section of the compressor pulley. My guess is, you won't be able to. Time for a new compressor. In the meantime, don't use the A/C, and unplug the compressor clutch from the harness connector.
