So the Restore product is no good? And causes sludge you say? Would have never know...I guess I'll stay away from that stuff. But how can they sell something that does more damage than good? Two of my buddies also say that the Restore product worked very well them, granted they were both 6 cylinder trucks. And none of us has seen any negative side effects...? Intriging
Restore is for guys who don't care to break apart their block and change piston rings....and hone the cylinders.

Also, I have yet to see BEFORE and AFTER compression tests of that product.

It is basically sludge in a can. All it does is CAUSE sludge that creates piston ring seal to prevent blow-by. Hence the PURPLE and SLUDGY consistency of the fluid.

yeah, but when that mistake kills your engine...

I guess anyone who uses engine restore over an engine overhaul is asking for it. THere is no quick fix for an engine that needs new piston rings and a cylinder hone.

haha yes very true, I will be staying away from that garbage. Thanks for opening my eyes on that one! Since you mentioned it, the fluid did seem to have a VERY dark blue/purple color and was thick.

My mechanic did say the same thing about Engine Restore. More like a placebo for your car. Sadly the same thing has been said about Luca Oil. Even though his shop is sponsored by them he dislikes there product.

NOOOOOOOOO! Not Lucas oil stabilizer too! So tell me then what products work!?!?!? Zmax maybe? C'mon there has to good some good stuff out there besides Seafoam....

Zmax, Slick50 are gimmick products. A basic fuel cleaner/injector cleaner does more for you than those products.

cappie, I never said I needed an engine overhaul or anythng close to that. And I wasn't trying to reseal my pistons. I had a little extra cash the other day at the parts house so I bought a can of seafoam and poured a little in the engine to try and clean it out a little before I changed out the oil. I bought this truck from the state in june so I'm going with the idea that all regular maintenance needs to be done on it. With time and funds permitting.
IMO I wouldn't even use syn. oil in my lawnmower.

The thing ai like about lucas oil, is that it holds the viscosity of your oil. And every mechanic that I talked to says that lucas oil stabilizer is one of the only products that you can add to oil that helps. However, he said that ANY transmission treatment is just garbage...even lucas.

I am just basing my opinion on about 10 oil changes with lucas and 5 without at the same mileage intervals. I noticed that the lucas oil treatment kept the oil viscosity a lot more stable than without the treatment.

And if you saw under my valvecovers, you would start using it too. Heck I even use their fuel treatment (upper cylinder lube) at every fill-up.
