Default seafoam cleaner

How long should you let seafoam stay in your engine before you change the oil?

according to sea foam, there is no time period that elapses. they recommend adding sea foam right before a change or with a new change, it's up to you. I've been using it for years, and right or wrong, I always add it towards the end of the oil's life span, so that it gets changed 500 miles or so after it was added. great product IMO

I thought about doing a seafoam treatment. But i havent had the time to do it yet. I will one off these days. I heard you get a little better mpg, and cleaner injectors... True?

oh crap...you actually put seafoam in your engine. Crap, you are going to get baked on grease on your engine.

Never use those "Engine clean" additives for the ENGINE OIL.

Just use Synthetic oil and Lucas Oil additive (stabilizer).

Sea foam and "engine flush" just kill your engine.

He was talking about adding it to the engine oil.

ANd it is not good for any MPG.

As for injectors. If you can find a HUGE in line fuel filter and put STRAIGHT SEAFOAM in that.

I have the fitch fuel catalyst, and I filled that with 1/4 of a can of seafoam. SO the seafoam was going through my injectors. No increase in MPG.

But I think it is good to keep things from getting really dirty in the intake, combustion chambers, and catalytic converter. It gets the carbon out of there. If the carbon really cakes up, then it will harm your performance.

I never think of seafoam as something that will "help" anything. Just prevent a dirty engine.

Really the best way to use that product is through the brake booster. Your truck will smoke like a Cummins, but that is normal. I noticed that Betty was running better after I did that. Also used it in my oil, and din't notice any changes. Used the Restore 8 cylinder product in my oil, and noticed Betty running smoother. That product actually worked! WOW. I do recommend seafoam treatments as well as the Restore treatment, worked great!

the best way is through the fuel line.

also to clarify on what he said by "in the brake booster"
1. You do not want to put it in the brake booster. You want to use the vac hose from the brake booster.
2. That method does not get your injectors or an even flow of seafoam to all cylinders.

Restore should only be used when you are going to sell your truck. It is a band aid that will mess things up about 1yr/15K down the road. Use lucas. Trust me, I know from experience with restore. It works great, then it causes sludge and bad fuel burning.

Restore and "stop smoke" products are meant to get a car running better before you sell them.

LOL, yeah thats what i meant actually...
So the Restore product is no good? And causes sludge you say? Would have never know...I guess I'll stay away from that stuff. But how can they sell something that does more damage than good? Two of my buddies also say that the Restore product worked very well them, granted they were both 6 cylinder trucks. And none of us has seen any negative side effects...? Intriging
