Cool How do I install my new track bar?

Hello, I have a 98 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L V8 and I noticed I needed a new track bar, so I went out to AutoZone and bought me one for $150. What are the procedures/steps for uninstalling and installing my new track bar?

Take out the bolt on the axle end, remove the cotter key, and castle nut on the frame end, then, beat the stud out of the hole on the frame end...... can be quite an exercise. Once it drops out of the frame, pull it out of the pocket on the axle end.

New one goes into the pocket on the axle first, put the bolt in, but don't tighten it. Get the ball stud into the frame mount, tighten to spec, put the cotter key in, then, tighten the axle end to spec.

you really should have picked up a HAYNES manual while you were at autozone. Also, I hope you have tools. Because if you don't...you will have to buy them.

here is a tip copied from the instructions:
CAUTION: Suspension components with rubber bushings should be tightened with the weight of the vehicle on the suspension, at normal height. If springs are not at their normal ride position, vehicle ride comfort could be affected and premature bushing wear may occur. Rubber bushings must never be lubricated.

someone a long time ago posted a tip that if the body shifts sideways, and the new trackbar won't lineup into both holes, they used a ratchet strap to pull the body back into position.

for removing anything from the axle area, a good first step is - get out the impact wrench...
