The whole purpose of upgrading to cold air intake versus a stock intake is to allow more air flow to the throttle body, and colder denser air. The colder, and more dense the air is, the more power you gain. I'm sure the Spectre CAI is an effective upgrade for the money. Around $120 is what I hear. Really all your getting in a K&N CAI is the name brand, it is well known, and dyno proven on our trucks to gain HP. Plus you can buy special filter cleaning kits from K&N to make your filter last a lifetime. I paid $260 for my K&N unit brand new. Great product, but expensive. If your on a budget, get a spectre kit, it's better than stock and for less $$$. Really anything is better than the stock units...

Exactly how effective is a dyno on a CAI, the truck isn't moving forward after all?

I guess if you position your CAI right in front of the fan it might make a bit of a difference...

I've never seen anyone run a chassis dyno without at least one big fan blowing at the front of the vehicle.

Yeah, but CAI arent so great for towing
but great for the high end power, just not the low end unfortunately

I ran Betty on the Dynamics Dyno meter, and we did not have a fan blowing on her...

But if the vehicle isn't moving forward, perhaps the K&N testing did put a fan in front of the truck to imitate air moving to the engine bay? Dyno meters are very accurate in measuring HP and torque at the rear wheels!

BTW, I did notice a very slight gain in low RPM range after the K&N Intake installation. Although, the intake does its best work and highest gain at around 4300 RPM's.

Yeah I disagree with that statement. In my opinion they are just as good, if not better than the stock units when it comes to towing, and definitely better then the 14x3 I had.

I could not agree with you more Ramsport97! Any improvement of air flow for the engine will help with towing, daily driving, or whatever! More HP = better drive ability
