Default Rear brake shoes

Ok, I know I'll prolly get flamed for "not searching" but I did and came back with nothing.

Anyway, I've never changed the rear brake shoes before. It's time to do so...is there a write up on here on how to change them out? The front rotors/pads are a breeze... Any help is greatly appreciated. Trying to do this for my dad tomorrow.

Thanks in Advance.

Brian

Hope you have some tools handy. Brake spring pliers are really nice to have for this job, but, you can get away with using a screwdriver, and vice-grips...... The factory service manual available in the FAQ section has the detailed procedures. That would be your best bet.

As for suggestions.... Do one side at a time. Use the other side for reference if necessary. (keep in mind, they are NOT an exact mirror image of each other, and some parts are picky about what side they are installed on. put em on the wrong side, and you WILL have problems.)

If the hardware in the drums is the original factory stuff, (springs, nails, retainers, etc) replace it. Hardware kits are cheap insurance.

When you are done, make SURE you adjust up the rears. Not doing so will be cause for some excitement, and possibly necessitate a change of clothes, and doing some laundry. Not to mention cleaning the seats of the truck, provided that is even an issue any more.......
