so my brother gave me an old plenum from his last motor,

the thing looks practically brand new! i scrubbed it with a scotch brite pad and a stainless steel wool ball
now the only thing about this plenum is that there is a bolt snapped off next to the thermostat

my question is can i like jb weld over those two holes and just drill and tap a new one? this plenum was free and just lying in my yard. is it worth fixing?

Can you take a side view pic? It's hard to asses the damage.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but as long as your learning SOMETHING, your energy isn't wasted.

You confused me for a minute. You said your brother gave ya a new 'plenum' by that do you mean the intake manifold or 'kegger' ? Cause you bought a new plenum from Hughes correct? If you referring to the kegger, I say it is fine, as long as you can make the correct repairs...or heck, buy a new one or guess I should say a pre-owned one. Pull one at the salvage yard if you are not feeling confident about this one. Why waste your energy on a lost cause, so to speak?

If it were me, I'd have a machine shop extract the broken stud, weld both holes closed, and then drill a new hole for the proper housing location.

Pay once, cry once -- do it right the first time. The nickels you try to save half-assing it will most likely cost you dollars down the road.
