Welcome to DF.

If its the original transmission, your 1995 has a 46RH, not a RE. They went to the RE transmissions in the 1996 model year.

The 1999 transmission will have some wiring differences (the wiring harness will not be the same), so you'll have to do a custom wiring job somehow from one harness to another (if its even possible).

Let me move this over to 2nd gen to try and get you some additional help.

I don't know for sure but, I'm going to guess it is not going to work all that well. The 46re is going to need additional signals from the computer to control it. Your OBDI isn't gonna be able to do that.

It won't work. the over drive unit on the RE's is electronically controlled and the RH is hydraulically controlled.

It'll work.. if you switch the entire truck over to OBDII.. no small task.
