front door speakers, help!
my front door speakers are shot in my 1999 2500, and i have a 1996 2500 parts truck that i tried out the radio and the speakers in there sound pretty good
. so i want to pull them out of the 1996 and put them in the 1999. the problem i ran into is the 96 has 4 wire conector going to the speakers and the 99 has a 10 wire, i think its 10 wires.
so i cut all the wires and finnal found which ones run to the door speaker. but then all the other speakers on the drivers side, (side i was working on) quit. so i unhooked the speaker that i had just put in(one i took out of the 96) and reconected all the wires, how it was oringaly, and now they all work.
so my question is how are you suppossed to put different speakers in????? all the other speakers run into the amp thing on the back of the 6x9 door speaker and if you get rid of that then none of the speakers will work??????????????
anyone changed them out before?
thanks!

your 99 with 10 wires has the infinity sound system with amps on the front speakers. they amp everything on each side, and i think? they might have a crossover to feed the little tweeters up on the pillar.
you can remove the amps and re-use them. tie them up inside the door, and connect a wire from the amp output to the new speaker.
all this is a pain.
another solution is to take it all out and throw it away, and install a nice aftermarket radio with aux input, new speakers, and just run new wires. if you want an amp, get a nice aftermarket unit and mount it under the seat or in the back.

ok ya both the 96 and 99 have the inginity system with amps on the speakers. would i be able to take the amps off the speakers for the 96 and put those speakers on the amp for 99 and put them in the door. i would then just have to cut the two wires that go to the side of the speaker and reconect them. and your saying i need to leave the amp in there to run the other speakers?
i currently have a 4 channel amp under the back seat that i have two of the channels bridged to run a sub. and i still have the two front channels that i could run to door speakers.
i might just do that if the stock amps wont work on the 96 s speakers.

I dont want to take over your thread or anything, but I just want to ask a quick question. My rear speakers dont work. They get power but not enough, since when you put your ear(s) to them you hear the static. I dont think theyre getting enough power?
Or bad grounds. Or a blown amp, (which is possibly internal to the head unit).
