Default Auto Tranny Slipping

So, it's a '95 ram. I had the tranny completely rebuilt maybe 5-6 years ago.

When it's cold the tranny slips when starting out. Yesterday I was parked on a slight slope and really notice it failing to engage properly. After it's warmed up all seems fine.

The fluid level looks good, but I haven't had the fluid or filter changed in a couple years.

Could that be my problem? Is there an additive that might help with the slipping?

Really would appreciate any advice, last thing I need is another tranny rebuild!

Don't bother with additives, they cause more problems than they solve.

Time for another fluid/filter change, and a band adjustment?

These guys are right. Filter and fluid change, adjust the bands and remove the check valve. If the guys who rebuilt your tranny didn't do that already, I'd be surprised. Also, who ever tells you to use ANY tranny additive including Lucas, DON'T DO IT!!! It's snake oil and will be a huge pain in the *** if you need to rebuild it again. They only treat the symptom and not the problem.

Yeah I hear you about the additives. OK, Mon. morning it's into the shop for filter, oil change and band adjustment. I'll mention the check valve too. Thanks for the info!
