engine break in
Drive it nicely for about 200 miles, varying speeds, not past about 3K RPM or so. Change the oil. Be nice for another 300, change the oil again. Drive it how you want.
Might be a bit conservative, but hey, that's just me.

Ask 10 people and you'll get 10 different answers. Myself after the engine is warmed I accelerate from 30 to 50 in a high gear and let off to 30 and repeat this for 25 miles or so (traffic permitting). Then I drive it normally for a couple of hundred miles with no sustained high speeds. Change oil and filter and consider it broken in. Change oil & filter again after 500 more miles just for good measure.

like said above you're going to get a lot of different opinions so choose the one you like best.

I would definitely say to go with the early oil changes the first couple of times (for instance, at 500, then 1000 with easy driving habits for the first while because you want to break it in without risk of unnecessary wear on anything.) I have heard something similar from several guys that have built engines for many different reasons and they seem to have a good deal of success in that area.
what i always did on chevy motors back in the day that i learned from an ole timer was break it in like your going to drive it. I dont know if its safe or sane for any motor but i did it on my motors with no ill effects
i help build race car motors in my spare time we let them run for 15 min at about 1500-2000 than idle for half an hour then they hit the track

Required Initial Lubricant/Fluid Changes
To assure the long life and continued performance of your remanufactured component, we recommend that you follow the initial lubricant and fluid changes outlined below. Please follow the guidelines of the equipment manufacturer for lubricant and filter changes thereafter.
Gasoline Engines:
Change engine oil and filter at 500 miles (or 10 hours for a marine engine) and then at a suggested interval of every 3,000-4,000 miles or 3-4 months (40 hours or once a season for a marine engine), whichever occurs first.

Me, I run it in park till its fully warmed up while varying rpms giving the odd 2k jab of throttle & then change the oil/filter & inspect the oil.
Next, drive it for 200miles varying rpms, giving it up to 1/2 throttle bursts but not exceeding 3k rpms.
Next 300miles up to 3/4 throttle bursts, no more than 3500rpm & vary the rpms.
Change the filter & oil, switch to synthetic & let her rip
