Automatic lockers will make your rear tires wear out faster, keep that in mind before you get one.

Also, the one you found is for a Dana 44, not the Chrysler 9.25.

Got the spiders out.

What am I missing for getting the carrier out? Pulled the axles shafts got out the to brackets holding it in. The carrier moves about half an inch and stops. Tried taking pry bars to it like how I got the front end out and this doesn't seem to want to come out.

Is there something I'm missing?

I may be wrong, but I think the carrier has to go up and out. I think there is a lip there that it sits in.

Sheriff, are you putting in a locker? You'll need the spiders if it's just a gear swap.

There are two slack adjusters (also known as bearing preloaders) that you have to back off, one on each side... The tool that I have seen goes into the axle tube all the way up to the carrier bearings like a type of driver

Follow the link to see what I am referring to if you have never heard of it before. I first saw this type of tool used on an older GM but I know that is what is holding you from getting yours apart as I had the same thing in my '99

Ended up going to a near by junk yard and got spiders for $25. It was 25 for the whole diff but since I never got mine out and it was hot so I just got the spider. I was going to get a hitch for $20 but I didn't have the right size deep wall socket.

Not really, the extra tire wear is negligible in my experiance.

Too late now but my vote would be to throw a Lock-Right or No-Slip in there.

I was thinking of a Detroit automatic locker, assuming a Lock-Right would lock up as often as the Detroit. The guy at Randy's ring and pinion, and two guys on here all told me that they get increased tire wear with a Detroit.
A No-Slip is a different story though, I haven't heard anything bad about those.
