Default Broke the spider gears, what are my options?

Well this weekend I broke the spider gears in my rear end. What are my options for a cheap fix?

I was thinking something like a lock-right or a trutrac.

Replace them with new spiders, go with the true-trac, or whatever flavor of locker that fits the case, and just replaces the spiders, or, replace the entire carrier with something that you like better. Those are more than likely listed in the order of cheap->expensive too.

No matter what you do, you are going to need to thoroughly clean the bits of metal out of the rear end......

Make sure you know what you are getting into with a rear locker. It can act very badly on pavement and I personally don't care for a locked rear off road. A selectable locker would be my choice. Something that lets you lock it when you need it is the best choice.

You can also look for a new rear end at a junk yard. It shouldn't be hard to find and aside from the brakes is a pretty easy swap.

If it were me, I would just change the spider and be done. It ran me like $150 to get the parts that I broke... Just don't do burn outs anymore.

Where did you get just the spiders at? And that link above, would that work for what I need?

I called a local offroad store and they told me I needed my gear ratio before they could order anything.

A Truetrac will replace the entire carrier, if it's a 1500, you have the Chrysler 9.25 corporate axle. The ring and pinion is most likely a 3.55:1 ratio. There was a sticker in my glove box or drivers side door jamb that had the info cant recall which right now.

Have a look at your rear diff, there should have been a tag that tells you what your gears are. Or, since you have the cover off anyway..... the number of teeth on the two gears should be etched into the ring gear somewhere, or possibly the face of the pinion gear.

Too bad I haven't installed my new gears yet, I'd send you my spider gears.

That locker I have in my post above is all that I need right? Working on tearing apart the rear end and it looks like the spiders are the only thing that have any damage to them.

The sad part is everything in my rear end was lose and I had my truck where I got it a year ago to have this rear end done when the other one blew.
