318 popping and spudering
All im trying to rule out is an internal problem, cause i need this truck to drive to work and back. There are no wierd engine noises, like knock,or pings and no smoke and also if it was an internal problem, wouldent it spudder and back fire when it was cold also?
50 bucks for an NTK DIRECT FIT.no you need the truck in closedloop because you stated it runs fine sometimes warmed up.if you remove the o2,after warm up she will go in limp mode and run like crap.dont do universal were you need to cut n splice the pigtail.the o2 sends out a very low voltage signal through the wire.splicing may alter this voltage.not worth it to safe a few buck imo.id replace it to.it a consumable part and should be replace more offten then not.
I have the exact same problem with my '95 5spd. I find it will run fine at certain rpms though. under normal acceleration it does that sputtery thing, hard accel is fine. I replaced the 02 sensor, iac, TPS, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. It does the same thing on startup, where its running, but barely... if you give the gas a quick light tap it perks right up and idles fine as well. On warm startup it backfires and pops like crazy, mind you i have a hi flow cat and flowmaster 40 series as well.
I was thinking either coil or egr, map or maf sensor, whichever one is on the front of the intake. I cant think of anything else, and have just been driving the truck as is since I dont wanna keep dumping money into it... I just get used to driving at those certain rpms hahha.
