well got the bars leak in and man this stuff is way better than other stop leaks. So good that my mechanic thought I had it welded haha

Took it on the highway just now and from a dead stop stomped on it 0-95 took a awhile but temp never got above the reg operating temp. I feel pretty good about driving it until I can get it fixed.

A couple of months ago, I used it in my '99 avenger that I drive to work, because of a head gasket problem. I followed the directions, and it fixed the head gasket leak beautifully, but it also partially blocked the heater core, and the radiator. I don't really care, because the car is going to be junked with in the next few months, but if you use the stuff for a head gasket, you should isolate, and bypass the heater core before you use the stuff.

Why didn't you just get it welded in the first place? If you can get the welding gun in there it would only take a minute to seal it up for good.

I might be the one and only here but if you buy a JY engine take the time to rebuild it. Tear it down and have it checked by a machine shop. I've never seen the point in buying a jy engine and just throwing it in a vehicle. You could have worse problems then you started with

Seconded. In a big way. The donor vehicle is in the yard for a reason. Lets hope that reason wasn't because the engine ran like crap...... Even if all you do is 'freshen it up', new gaskets, rings, etc, you will be much further ahead, and still not quite as light in the wallet in the event your JY motor takes a dump on ya.

My Mustang has been parked going on probably 5 years now. I have heard for them 5 years "just throw a jy explorer motor in there and be done with it" Who's to say I did that and fire it up and oh what a surprise it knocks just as bad as mine does OR worse. Now you have wasted $$ in another POS engine that's not getting you anywhere. Also the time spent putting it in then having to take it back out, rebuild, then drop it back in. I'm all about once and done

The plan is to build a JY engine into a "new" motor. I dont think I was clear enough.

I have pondered the idea of just getting it welded. But the tranny would have to be dropped I think.

I am honestly not too worried about it blocking the radiator and heater core. Im pretty sure the heater core is shot or close too it. I knew that when I bought it.

If the stuff ends up screwing something up I guess ill just mark it down as a lesson learned. I can say this because the new plan I came up with today. haha as you can see with my avatar I used to build off road toys. Well the 2nd gen just might end up as just that.

I went to the dodge dealer today and found me a 2003 quad cab 2500 with 65,000 miles. man does it look sweet. Comes with dealer warrenty and a fresh set of tires for 13,400. Not a bad deal in my book. Im seriously thinking about buying it. With the new job the payments are not gonna hurt my wallet and I can have two rams!

If I do this the 2nd gen will be getting the motor ripped out and gone through along with the tranny. Then around a 6 inch lift, much trimming and im gonna squeeze me some 36's under it. Of course somewhere in there will be gears, lockers, axle shafts, drive shafts, and maybe a bob who knows.
