It wouldn't be anything to do with EGR, as 2001s don't have EGR, if memory serves.

Have you replaced the gas cap since you bought the truck?

P0445 Evap Emission Sys Purge Ctrl Valve Circ Shorted

Check the harness going to the purge valve.

Or... according to the 2001 manual..... Evap Leak Monitor Large Leak Detected..... Interesting.

Check the hoses going from the cannisters, up to the engine. they are known for rotting out.

Ah, p0442 is a small leak. Thats a bit better than the first code you said it was.

However, this means that the gas cap is an even more likely culprit. I'd replace it, they are pretty cheap. If that doesn't solve the issue, start looking at the lines around the canister, as HeyYou suggested.

Ok I got a chance to check some stuff yesterday. I took a gas cap off of our 2001 durango and that seemed like it might have maid a very small difference, however, when I took the gas cap off there was a big pressure realese. The cap that the truck has has never released pressure like that. But the Durango cap is also 9 years old so I think I will still buy a cap today and see if that works. I did look under the truck at the lines but I couldnt see any problems but I didnt look super thourough either. Ill post later to tell how the cap works out. Thank you again!
