well as long as it stopped on E then its accurate and shouldnt matter lol...stupid gas hogs

 

I had the same problem on my 1996 in 2005. People on this forum stated something to the fact that there is a ceramic tile on the fuel pump that registers how full the tank is. It can get varnished fuel on it and mes up readings (truck sat for a year while I was deployed).

I never replaced the fuel pump and kept driving. However, after about 4 months of adding Lucas fuel treatment, the gas gauge came back to life, gradually making more accurate readings. But that could be coincidence.

I am guessing it is electrical.
