Default Leveling kit questions

Hi,

I bought my 1999 Ram Sport a few months ago, and the guy I bought it from put a lift in it. There's blocks (3 or 4 inches in the back, haven't measured) and "heavy duty" springs in the front.

I'm assuming he meant 2500 springs, but the front is way down compared to the rear and it's... goofy.

There's nothing else on the front for a lift like drop brackets and stuff, so my question is how much to 2500 springs lift a 1500 Ram? If I buy a 2 inch leveling kit, do I need to do anything else considering the springs I have?

It's in desperate need of shocks, so it's not an issue if I buy the spacers and longer front shocks or something like that. It will be an issue if I need to start dropping sway bars and junk.

Halp!

2500 springs will give you around 2'' of lift. the max amount or lift you can have with stock control arms is 3''. so you could maybe go up another inch before you need to start doing any major changes.

welcome to the DF!

Thanks!

So to match the ***, I'd need basically a whole new kit?

well you could do that. or get a long arm suspension kit or fab up your own control arms. long arms are going to cost 500 bucks tho... why dont you just take a little lift out of the rear?

Not to jack the thread or anything, but since it's already been brought up.. Are the 2500 springs a direct drop in to the 1500 as a good way to level it out? My stockers are shot and was looking at some +2 springs, but if I could just use some made for a 2500 it might be a little cheaper.

yes the springs are the same other than how tall they are. you want the diesel springs. they are stiffer thus giving you more height but also stiffening up the suspension some

That would probably fix it, but I've come to like the height. It's not terrible front/rear height ratio, it's just that it would look so much better level.

After looking at it quickly again before work, I'd say I have 3 inch blocks and an add-a-leaf back there. I suppose that's a signifigant investment in the rear, so if at all possible I'd like to just correct the front.

In order to do that though, I'd need coils (or spacers - probably not possible using my 2500 coils), arms, drop bracket for the sway bar, and a pitman arm, correct? Stock brake hoses long enough? Will 4 inches up front (over stock) match the rear? I realize it's all speculation without pictures or hard facts, but it'll let me get an idea on price.

better back the truck up a bit.
2500 coils should give you more than that. if they're out of a diesel its gonna be 3-4" i have an adda leaf and an extra overload in the rear of my dodge and its still not level........ i ran the HD diesel springs up front.
if you have 2500s out of a gasser it'd net your 1 - 2" maybe.......

from the sounds of your truck either: A; take lift out of the rear. or B: spacers up front.

personally, i'd put a spacer in the front, then pull your shock (i'm assuming its a stock shock?) and find a shock 4" longer and call'r good........

if you put that much lift in the front in may pull your front tires back to far and it may give you a "choppy" ride

You mean if I don't use longer arms?
