hard to say, I did the RRs, 24# injectors, SCT tune and MSD ingition and tune up.

With all of them I went from 8.9 MPG city to 11.5 MPG city. My highway is 13.5.

This is with a stock airbox. THat is what I am working on today.

It's hard to tell for me as well, as I did the 52mm fastman TB, roller rockers, 14x3, and Superchips 3815, and 3" flowmaster exhaust at the same time. I just seafoamed and recorded 13.5 mpg in the "tow tune" on my superchips. I figure I'm getting about 15-17 in the "milage saver mode"

I would guess there is an MPG loss. Valve opens farther, more air in, more fuel in. This happens whether its WOT or idle.

I went from "not so happy" to "very happy" with the way my car drove after doing all my mods (mainly thanks to the 1.7s and SCT, they sent everything else over the top).

I highly recommend, in this order:
1. SCT, Hughes/APS plenum plate 180* t-stat Spectre filter (half the price of K&N and they look beefier, for those afraid that K&N lets in too much dirt)
2. 1.7s
3. MSD Ignition and Coil
4. FMS 24# injectors
5. Headers/high flow cat:

With all those (about $2000-2500) you should be very happy for a long time. I put headers last because I had them on my 1996 and didn't notice much of a SOTP difference.

i would have to say yes that it gets better, it just feels tighter and more powerful and responsive in all RPMS, that it takes less gas to get going ?? if that makes sence.. i did the 1.7 as my 2nd mod on the truck and liked it. one of my favs with the tuner..

money is well spent on this mod i say its worth it..

sorry to resurrect a dying thread, but:

How concerned about valve clearance should I be with the 1.7's on a stock motor?

How hard is doing this by yourself with standard tool sets?

Do you need the guide plates?

Is it a six pack job or a couple case job?

I have the SCT inbound right now, and I'm putting the plenum plate on this weekend. I hope to have the headers on by the end of next week. I have two new 160 degree 'stats, but I'm thinkin' real hard about the 180, as everyone here seems to favor them- though I don't know why.. ??..

How much more umph will I get by upgrading to #24 injectors and Fastman 52mm? Is it worth it?

Sorry for all the newb questions.. Thanks in advance..

Harland Sharp. $350 at SummitRacing. Someone correct me if thats the wrong part number.

However, I have been told repeatedly that SouthEast Performance can get you a better price if you contact them.
