It's a 5.2 318 I'm guessing. Couldn't tell you what the year was. the vin is on the driver side windshield at the very bottom unless it was removed which is illegal. If it has chrome side mirrors it's a 94-97, black side mirrors with a pull out style headlight switch it's a 98 (first year they introduced the quad cab also) and the 99-01's had the twist style headlight switch. Is it a sport? 94-98's had regular bumpers but were painted to match the body, 99-01 sports had a different bumper altogether.

Agree with them, 5.2L 318. As for the year, tried checking the door labels or any stickers under the hood?

Thanks for the replies,
Sorry for the confusion, I meant engine serial number not vin. The truck is 94 and I found a web with all the casting numbers and year range on them.
http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/Mopar_Drivetrain_Numbers.pdf
I will have to find a stamped number to determine year. I think it is 96 or up because the flexplate is 90 deg and the 94 should have one offset hole.
Thanks,
Scott

I think he's trying to determine the year of the engine itself, not the truck.

I did confirm it is 5.2 from the castings. I am pulling it now and will look more for stamped serial number.
My new question is when did the 5.2 move the coolant temp sensor from by the thermostat and where is it supposed to go? Someone rigged mine into the heater hose. I think this engine is newer than my 94 truck it is in. Please let me know.
Thanks,
Scott
