Default Transmission ?

It's been awhile since I've been on and this isn't directly 2nd gen related but I've got a 44rh tranny out of a 318 Dakota that I'm trying to put in my Mazda that I put a 318 in. I was told it is the same as the 46rh which is why I posted here. There are 2 electrical plugs on the side, what are they for? I'm assuming that one is for the overdrive. If so can I just wire it to a switch?

The Dakotas are cable driven speedometers. The tranny came out of a 93 318 Dakota.
