Rear differential confusion- and how much and what type of oil?
Hi Well for years I felt sure that my 2001 dodge ram 2500 has the limited-slip diff. so I applied the friction modifier. If it doesn't need the modifier I don't know if it will do any harm. I just learned that it has the corporate 9 diff. but I am still not sure if it is LSD or not. The sticker under the hood says that the ratio is 3.92; page 1 of 1 4stars and then the num. -0370780. What is t.o.n 61310348?

They came in the Light Duty 3/4 ton trucks, from 94 to 95. After that, I think the light duty version was discontinued.
An 01 2500 should have a dana 60 rear, at the very least.

Is it a full float axle, do the axle shafts bolt in at the hubs?
Yes but I have hard time believing a 01 2500 came with an 8 lug Chrysler 9.25 rear. Based on what I have seen and the info I have read the Dana 60,70 or 80 where the only rear axles they put in the 2500 in 01.
You would be correct that the Chrysler 9.25 8 lug wouldn't be in an 01. But someone could have changed it not knowing about the LD and HD models
Also excellent tech by not explaining what other than the 9.25 was used?
