Default Rear differential confusion- and how much and what type of oil?

I'm so confused.

The manual says 75W-90 UNLESS its a Dana 60. 70, 0r 80. How can you tell?

Dodge also told me I need 4.5 Quarts. 4.5 quarts of gear oil??? wtf?

Autozone says there is no LSD on 9.25 rear axles. For 9 1/4 they said its 2.5 PINTS. Well I have my build sheet and it says:

9.25 LD Rar Axle, 3.55 Rear Axle Ratio, Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle

Does that mean I don't really have 9 1/4, I don't really have LSD, or I have one of those other Dana rear ends?

Either way, one of the three of us is wrong, so Help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Post your build sheet here. And post all the info about your truck instead of leaving us guessing.

all 1500's have the chrysler 9.25 (9-1/4).

anti-spin is the same as limited slip. you have it. which means you need the little 8 oz bottle of friction modifier, available at any parts store.

any multi-grade gear oil is fine 80w90, 85w90, or the expensive 75w140. it doesn't really matter.

you need 2.5 pints, which is 1.25 qts, so you need to buy 2 qts.

use black rtv as a gasket. orange looks silly.

there. confusion solved.

So the 9 1/4 corporate rear end needs the additive?

If the corporate 9 1/4 needs the additive, then that might explain a lot of probs people have on here with there rear diff.

They only need the additive if its a limited slip and most of the 75w140 gear oils do not require it because it is already in the gear oil, I went with Valvoline syntec 75w140 and havent had a problem actually helped the limited slip compared to the old oil

Should already have the modifier in it. Fluid will be fine.
