I doubt its brass. Stick a magnet to it. If its brass, the magnet won't stick. If it sticks, its steel and you can heat it as you like. Glad I live in mississippi. What the hell is road salt? Salt is fo vittles, boy. Lol

I had to replace my brake lines about 3 weeks ago. My truck is originally from Michigan, so trust me, I understand the rust. Anyway, we ended up replacing ALL brake lines and I now need to replace the wheel cylinders because my bleeder screws broke off. It took a lot, but soaking the connections in PB blaster (by soaking I mean 3 or 4 cans) and everything came off, obviously except the last bleeder screw. Good luck.

Well, I've got everything apart but that little breather. yes it is steel. I could try to cut the brass brake junction off the breather so the PB Blaster has a better chance of working, or jury rig the new junction somewhere on the rear end and leave the old one on. (I realy don't want to jury rig anything.)

jswain,
You southern boys don't need to worry about our crappy road salt, but you cant beat a pile of fresh snow,a big parking lot, and you deer hunting buddy screaming " Hold my beer and watch this"

Thanks for the help!!

Yeah it snows enough to matter here maybe once every other year. I had an old jeep cj with a v 8 and did the parking lot thing in an iced over piggly wiggly parking lot (dats rite, da pig). Was having great fun pitching it sideways and sliding, til I slid off the ice and the tires got traction. Thought I was going to turn the jeep over. Luckily, ol buddy did not spill his malted beverage. Good luck with the brakes.

Default She stops :)

Well got her "done". I replaced all the rear line components and some of the front. she stops!! a little bit of "rigg'n" at the breather/splitter on the rear axle but i was not going for style points on this fix.

THANKS for the help!
Jay
