Default rusted rear brake fittings

My 2000 ram 4x4's rear brake fittings are rusted beyond belief. I am going to replace them but cannot get the rear ones at the axle appart. tried penetrating spray but I am just rounding them off. I don't want to mess up the ones going to the drum. The bleaders came out fine. The nut at the breather tube "slpitter" won't move either.

could the fittings be so rusted to the steel brake line that they cannot turn? What if i cut the line and put a socket on the fitting and cranked?

any help???

Thanks!!!!

did my wheel cylinders today (note to self...when doing wheel cylinders get new lines too) fittings came out with ease, are you using a 3/8ths? mine was a tight squeeze but it didnt round it off. how many miles are on the truck? maybe its time to do the wheel cylinders too, unless you have a magnifying glass and eyes made of gold dont bother getting the haynes manual....maybe its just me but i couldnt see **** in the step by step for the brake shoes

Fire is your friend on this one probably. Heat it up and it should unscrew.

Thanks for the help. I have about 185000 miles on it. I was using a 3/8 open end wrench and it just spun around. after that a vice grip. it aint movin.
How much are the wheel cylinders going to cost?? We all have our budgets. You are right about the Haynes boooook. In some areas it is crap.

I could try a tourch.. i think i would need to clean off the pb balster spray?

this should have been an easy job. Ya gotta love the road salt in Wisconsin. Thanks again for the help and have a great day.

I got mine from advance auto for 10 bucks a piece, overall for 2 lines, 2 wheel cylinders, shoes, haynes manual, and brake cleaner it was about $100, maybe a little less

Two of my three problems soved!!! I got the fittings on the cylinders off. its amazing what one more night swiming in PB Blaster will do for you. now all I need to do is get the thing off the axle tube.

Does that little fitting just turn out with a left hand twist on the nut I've rounded off our am I missing something?

Thanksfor all the info!! This is great sight!

The little ,i think it is brass, breather fitting on the axle tube wont move. assuming it IS brass can i still apply heat to loosen? I would have to tourch the axle tube ,under the brake line union, which I think is brass too. Help

Thanks
Jay
