Question Low idle, losing pressure, and popping when accelerating

I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2L V8 with 260,000 miles. It was given to me 2 years ago and dont know anything about the trucks past. Have replaced regular wear and tear stuff but nothing to bad until now. Ive been having problems with my Dodge and cant seem to find any answers. It has a low idle when in drive and I have to put to neutral to get back to normal if not if jerks and sometimes turns off. Even with it being in neutral i still have to rev up to keep it from dying at time. When i try to accelerate it will either not go and i will have the pedal touching the floor board or when it does it will be popping. Its not constantly doing it but atleast once a day. I only drive it to work and back which is less then 10 miles round trip. I replaced the idle air control which they said would fix the problem but still hasnt fixed anything. I just need some sort of direction. Im wanting to give the truck to my little brother in a year but dont want him to have a problem vehicle. Any thing can help at this point.

Check engine light on?

Might be throttle position sensor, or low fuel pressure, or failing O2 sensor, etc. many things can cause your symptoms. When is the last time you changed plugs/wires/cap/rotor?

The check engine light has turned on before but not at the present time. I did have them check the fuel pump pressure and they said its at about 44 psi which they said is ok. Have changed the plugs, cap, and rotor about 3 months ago. Didn't replace the wires.
